Autumn 2024
Weston Rhyn Football Club
Following an application received from Weston Rhyn Football Club earlier this year, an award of £475 has been made allowing the purchase of football training equipment including mannequins, slalom posts, discs, footballs, a target net and a tactics board. The presentation was made to Lewis Alderman by Trustee Juliet McKenzie in September.

| Autumn 2024 Karen Ashton We were deeply saddened in August by the sudden death of Karen Ashton, one our Trustees. Karen had lived for many years in Weston Rhyn not far from Quinta Meadows. She served as a Chair of Trustees for most of the last decade. Under her leadership the Ellen Barnes Charitable Trust consolidated its role in the new century and significant improvements were made to Quinta Meadows. Behind the scenes, the charity dealt with the demands made by new regulation and legislation. She left the charity in a stronger financial position than had been the case for many years. We shall miss her wisdom and experience, and we offer our condolences to Brian and her family. |

Summer 2024 Afternoon Tea on Quinta Meadows’ Front Lawn Inspired by Ellen Barnes’ annual fete that she arranged for her tenants, we hosted an afternoon tea for Quinta Meadow residents, with their guests, and trustees on 1st June 2024. The setting was Quinta Meadows’ front lawn. This provided residents with opportunities for mixing socially and meeting trustees.Trustees Juliet MacKenzie and Sarah Nurden ‘hosted’ the event, serving their home-baked cakes and scones with locally made preserves along with teas and coffees. And as a bonus it remained dry for the occasion! At the end of the afternoon, every resident thanked us personally. Reflecting on the event, it seemed residents were very grateful at the opportunity of seeing their neighbours. |

Spring 2024
Forest kitchen for local primary school
Following a grant made in 2023, an outdoor mud kitchen has been installed at Ysgol Y Waun Forest School. Children will use it to develop their independent and creative learning. There was a presentation by trustee Juliet Mackenzie after which there was an afternoon menu of teas and coffees followed by spaghetti bolognaise! The children were super hosts.
